Respon Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Tanaman Selada Krop (Lactuca sativa L.) Terhadap Penggunaan Jenis Mulsa yang Berbeda di Dataran Rendah
Abstract
The use of mulch in the cultivation of horticultural commodity crops was an effort that can be made to increase plant productivity. Black Silver Plastic Mulch is a mulch that is generally used by farmers in the cultivation of horticultural crops, especially lettuce. There are several alternative materials that can be used as organic mulch, namely straw, husk, and sawdust. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of various types of mulch on the growth of lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa L.). The method used in this study is an experimental method with an environmental design, namely Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a type of mulch treatment consisting of 5 levels including Treatment A (Control), Treatment B (Straw), Treatment C (Husking), Treatment D (Sawdust), and Treatment E (Black Silver Plastic Mulch). The data was analyzed using Test F and to determine the difference between the treatments and the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) follow-up test at an error level of 5%. The results showed that there was a real effect of mulch use on the growth of lettuce plants on all observation parameters. E treatment of Black Silver Plastic Mulch had the highest average value in all observation parameters, the average value of fresh plant weight per plant in E treatment was 245.8 g and the weight of fresh plants per plot was 11.06 Kg. Organic mulch still could not outperform the efficiency and effectiveness of black silver plastic mulch in lettuce cultivation.
