Pengaruh Pemberian Biochar Sekam Padi Terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Tanaman Selada ( Lactuca sativa L. )
Abstract
Lettuce is a plant that belongs to the family compositae, lettuce plants are known as sub-tropical plants native to Western Asia and the Americas, but are able to adapt to tropical climates. Efforts that can be made to increase the production of lettuce plants are to add organic matter to the soil to improve soil properties, one of the organic materials that can be added is biochar. This study aims to determine the effect of rice husk biochar on lettuce growth and yield and to determine the best dosage of rice husk biochar on lettuce growth and yield. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Department of Agroindustry, Sijunjung Campus, Padang State University, Sijunjung Regency. The research has been completed in October 2024-January 2025. The design used in this study was to use a complete random design (RAL) with 6 treatments and 4 replicas consisting of P1 = rice husk biochar 15 tons/ha (75 g/plant), P2 = rice husk biochar 20 tons/ha (100 g/plant), P3 = rice husk biochar 25 tons/ha (125 g/plant), P4 = 30 tons/ha (150 g/plant) rice husk biochar, P5 = 35 tons/ha (175 g/plant) rice husk biochar. The parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (cm), leaf area (cm), leaf color (cm), fresh plant weight (g) and dry weight (g). The research findings indicate that the administration of rice husk biochar at dosages of 75 g, 100 g, 125 g, 150 g, and 175 g exerted no significant influence on the parameters observed in lettuce plants. The most favorable dose for enhancing both growth and yield of lettuce was determined to be 125 grams per plant.
