Journal History

The Sigma Journal of Mathematics and Learning (JPMS) is published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Labuhanbatu University, a member of the Mathematics Education Study Program (FKIP) of Labuhanbatu University. It contains articles reflecting the ideas and research findings of experts, scientists, practitioners, reviewers, teachers, lecturers, and students in the disciplines of education and learning, as well as mathematics in general. JPMS is a publication in the discipline of mathematics education, focusing on original research and writing in the form of scientific papers by researchers in education, learning, and mathematics.

JPMS has published articles since 2015, with Volumes 1 and 2. JPMS periodically publishes one volume with two editions annually.

JPMS has also undergone numerous changes to its article template format over the years, including revisions to the article template for the E-ISSN publication. Consequently, some articles in the online edition appear to have different writing templates.

JPMS has also undergone numerous changes to its editorial board, with several members appointed along with reviewers.

In August 2021, the OJS website server belonging to Labuhanbatu University experienced a server failure, which ultimately resulted in the JPMS OJS website being damaged and data loss, specifically for volume 7, number 1, May 2021. All publication history for that edition was lost, resulting in the publication being restarted using the System Plugin (Quick Submit) mode. This was done to address data loss for every author who had previously entrusted their articles to JPMS OJS.
Starting in 2026, the second edition, JPMS began with a change in writing language, requiring all articles accepted for publication to be written in English.
